Predictive value of preoperative serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC–Ag) level on tumor recurrence in cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients treated with radical surgery: A single-institution study
European Journal of Surgical Oncology Aug 31, 2019
Guo Q, Zhu J, Wu Y, et al. - Researchers examined a total of 3,471 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma who underwent radical surgery in order to determine the clinical significance of serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC–Ag) in these patients. Further, they sought for its optimal cut-off value for predicting tumor recurrence and survival. For predicting tumor recurrence, the optimal cut-off value of serum SCC-Ag level was set at 2.75 ng/mL. Observations revealed a close relation of preoperative serum SCC-Ag level > 2.75 ng/mL with extrapelvic recurrence, and its independent value as a factor for tumor recurrence and survival in cervical squamous cell carcinoma patients with high-risk factors (parametrial invasion, vaginal margin invasion, and lymph node metastasis).
