Predictive value of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on cardiovascular events in patients with COVID-19
International Journal of General Medicine Jul 29, 2021
Zhan L, Liu Y, Cheng Y, et al. - In this study, the relationship between neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with COVID-19 was explored. The study enrolled 159 patients with COVID-19 who were assessed for NLR value within the first 24 hours of admission. They were followed up for 6 months after discharge and then the association between levels of NLR and risk of cardiovascular events was evaluated. The data indicate that in patients with COVID-19, a high NLR value was clinically correlated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events, which might be a potential biomarker for predicting cardiovascular events in the current COVID-19 pandemic.
