Predictive value of high sensitivity-troponin T for systolic dysfunction and infarct size (6 months) after ST-elevation myocardial infarction
The American Journal of Cardiology Jun 11, 2018
Mohammad MA, et al. - Researchers assessed the correlations of high sensitivity cardiac troponin-T (hs-cTnT), creatine kinase MB iso-enzyme (CKMB) and N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) to infarct size (IS) and ejection fraction (EF) at 6 months. ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients from the Rapid Endovascular Catheter Core Cooling Combined With Cold Saline as an Adjunct to Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for the Treatment of Acute Myocardial Infarction (CHILL-MI) trial were assessed for these comparisons. Findings demonstrated the accuracy of high-sensitivity Troponin T in predicting systolic dysfunction in patients 6 months after first-time STEMI. Furthermore, it affords a rapid, cheap, generally available tool for this purpose.
