Predictive value of bubble sign for tubal patency during office hysteroscopy
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Aug 03, 2020
Lörincz J, Molnár S, Herman T, et al. - Researchers performed a cross-sectional study of clinical data of 61 infertile women who underwent diagnostic hysteroscopy and laparoscopy in order to ascertain the predictive value of visible air bubble sign for real tubal patency during hysteroscopic procedures. For the detection of patency, bubble sign demonstrated 73% sensitivity, 70% specificity, a positive predictive value of 83%, and a negative predictive value of 56%. Findings thereby suggest that an accurate prediction of tubal patency can not be made via visible tubal “flow” of air bubbles during hysteroscopy.
