Predictive value of abdominal CT in evaluating internal herniation after bariatric laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
British Journal of Surgery Jun 14, 2018
Ederveen JC, et al. - Researchers sought to ascertain the accuracy of abdominal CT in diagnosing internal herniation after bariatric laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. They analyzed 1475 patients consecutive patients (84·7% women, mean age 46·5years, median initial BMI 41·8kg/m2) who had undergone laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery between 1 January 2011 and 1 January 2015 at a bariatric centre of excellence. Observations revealed that in diagnosing internal herniation, abdominal CT is an important tool, with a high specificity and a high negative predictive value.
