Predictive markers based on transcriptome modules for vinorelbine-based adjuvant chemotherapy for lung adenocarcinoma patients
Lung Cancer Jun 15, 2021
Nakasone S, Suzuki A, Okazaki H, et al. - To find out practical markers to predict the efficacy of microtubule inhibitor (MTI)-based adjuvant chemotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma, researchers undertook this study. They analyzed a novel combination of molecular marker candidates, based on gene expression network analysis constructed employing an omics panel of 26 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. From 24 Japanese lung adenocarcinoma patients managed postoperatively with vinorelbine, surgical specimens were collected to perform RNA sequencing analysis. Experts discovered four modules within the network with module activities that were significantly related to sensitivity to MTIs. Link with high sensitivity to MTIs was demonstrated by two modules: genes with low differentiation or transdifferentiation of lung adenocarcinomas. Lung cancer cases with MTI resistance were classified using the module activities. Findings showed the usefulness of the constructed classification method for detecting cases with MTI resistance which leads to a high risk of cancer relapse.
