Predictive histologic factors in carcinosarcomas of the uterus: A multi-institutional study
International Journal of Gynecologic Pathology Apr 20, 2019
Abdulfatah E, et al. - Researchers sought to identify potential prognostic factors in carcinosarcomas of the uterus via evaluating the clinical and histopathologic features of 196 uterine carcinosarcomas. Observations revealed the significant correlation of shorter disease-free interval with tumors ≥5 cm, outer half myometrial invasion, lymphovascular invasion, lymph node metastasis, advanced stage (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stages III–IV), sarcomatous component on recurrence, sarcoma dominance, and positive cytology. Furthermore, a significant correlation of worse 3-yr overall survival with serous histology and rhabdomyoblastic differentiation was observed.
