Predictive factors for late cervical metastasis in stage I and II squamous cell carcinoma of the lip
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Jun 11, 2019
Kavabata NK, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the predictive factors for occult lymph node metastasis and criteria for elective neck dissection, especially in CN0 stage lip cancer. This multi-institutional study of 193 consecutive patients with early lip SCC had an overall late LNM rate of 13% (25/193). The multivariate logistic regression study revealed the occurrence of late LNM in correlation to tumour size greater than 18 mm and more aggressive pattern of invasion, with rates of sensitivity, specifity and accuracy for occult LNM prediction of 50%, 89.5% and 87%, respectively.
