Predictive factors for kidney stone recurrence in type 2 diabetes mellitus
Urology Apr 29, 2020
Prasanchaimontri P, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective cohort study to determine the predictive factors for kidney stone recurrence in type 2 diabetic patients (n = 1,617). This investigation was carried out from 2013 to 2019 by utilizing the database of diabetic patients diagnosed with kidney stone disease. Multivariable analysis showed that BMI, urine pH, HbA1c, diabetic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, insulin and potassium citrate therapy, and calcium oxalate stone with uric acid composition are important predictors of stone recurrence. Findings suggested that diabetes severity and stone composition are strong predictors of stone recurrence in type 2 diabetic patients, whereas HbA1c and urine pH are important modifiable factors.
