Prediction of the risk of malignancy among detected lung nodules in the National Lung Screening Trial
Journal of the American College of Radiology Aug 27, 2018
Hassannezhad R, et al. - Using data from the National Lung Screening Trial, researchers examined nodule features and patient-specific characteristics correlated with improvement in the predictive ability of lung cancer screening while maintaining the sensitivity of low-dose CT intact by analyzing data of 32,746 nodules for 9,728 patients. The findings from the present study suggested that increment in positive predictive value of lung cancer screening with sensitivity same as National Lung Screening Trial was feasible. The obtained results demonstrate that inclusion of other nodule size dimensions plus longest diameter to the model significantly improves the predictive ability of models.
