Prediction of pharyngocutaneous fistula and survival after salvage laryngectomy for laryngohypopharyngeal carcinoma
Head & Neck Apr 25, 2019
Kim YH, et al. - Data were investigated to examine the risk factors of pharyngocutaneous fistula development and poor survival following salvage laryngectomy for laryngohypopharyngeal carcinoma. The independent variables predictive of post-salvage fistula development were prior radiotherapy and pre-salvage tracheostomy in multivariate analyses. They recorded 58.8% and 45.9% of the 5-year disease-free survival and overall survival rates, respectively. They also noted an association of post-salvage survival with nodal positivity at salvage.
