Prediction of mortality and morbidity in head and neck cancer patients 80 years of age and older undergoing surgery

L'Esperance HE, et al. - An investigation was performed with regard to the postoperative complications and mortality rates in octogenarian and older head and neck cancer patients undergoing ablative surgical resections. Additionally, this trial determined the factors related to postoperative morbidity and mortality. The risk of serious complications and mortality was speculated via the patient and surgical treatment factors, in patients aged 80 years and older undergoing ablative head and neck surgery. Predictive models could assist in preoperative discussion with patients.
