Prediction of delayed cerebral ischemia with cerebral angiography: A meta-analysis
Neurocritical Care Jul 19, 2018
Kumar G, et al. - Researchers used a random-effects meta-analysis of prediction of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) with cerebral angiography, comparing its accuracy with that of transcranial Doppler (TCD) in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) cases. They analyzed data from studies that used cerebral angiography for diagnosis of vasospasm and assessed DCI in patients with SAH. The meta-analysis included a total of 15 studies (n=5,463). The estimated sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of cerebral angiography for prediction of DCI were 57%, 68%, 32%, and 90%. They found that relative to angiographic vasospasm, DCI was better predicted by TCD evidence of vasospasm.
