Prediction of contrast-induced acute kidney injury using novel biomarkers following contrast coronary angiography
QJM: An International Journal of Medicine Oct 26, 2017
Connolly M, et al. - A prospective observational study was done to determine whether early diagnosis of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) requires validated novel biomarkers. The current study showed that the Mehran risk score, 4-hour serum liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) and 6-hour plasma NGAL performed best at early CI-AKI prediction. CI-AKI patients were four times more likely to develop major adverse clinical events (MACE) and had a trebling of mortality risk at 1 year.
