Predicting the value of adjuvant therapy in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma by combining the total number of examined lymph nodes with the positive lymph node ratio
Annals of Surgical Oncology Jul 13, 2019
Li Y, et al. - Researchers assessed if parameters connected to lymph node (LN) status can predict the value of adjuvant therapy in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Reception of adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or chemoradiotherapy defined adjuvant therapy. Among 298 patients with ESCC who had undergone radical esophagectomy with lymphadenectomy, total number of resected LNs (TLNs), LN ratio (LNR), and pN stage were identified to be the independent prognostic factors for survival. The value of adjuvant therapy could be predicted by combining TLNs and LNR in contrast to using TLNs, LNR, and pN stage individually.
