Predicting risk for seroma development after axillary or inguinal sentinel lymph node biopsy in melanoma patients
International Journal of Dermatology Feb 08, 2019
Persa OD, et al. - Medical records of 615 subjects at the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany, between 2011 and 2016, were examined to estimate the predicting risk factors for seroma development after axillary or inguinal sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in melanoma cases. Authors noticed the development of seroma, more common among smokers as compared to nonsmokers. They observed no impact of presence/absence of metastasis in the lymph node on seroma development. Overall, they concluded male sex, inguinal localization, and smoking as risk factors for the development of seroma.
