Predicting remission of diabetes post metabolic surgery: A comparison of ABCD, diarem, and DRS scores
Obesity Surgery Jun 28, 2018
Ahuja A, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison of the efficacy of Diarem, DRS, and ABCD score in predicting the T2DM (type 2 diabetes mellitus) remission. They selected 102 diabetic patients who underwent laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass or laparoscopic one anastomosis gastric bypass. Observations suggested DiaRem score to have the best sensitivity and specificity and maximum area under curve. However, the scoring systems showed no statistically significant difference in their diabetes remission predicting abilities. Significant association of a shorter duration of T2DM, a lower HbA1C, and higher levels of C-peptide with a higher chance of T2DM remission was identified.
