Predicting reactivity threshold in children with anaphylaxis to peanut
Clinical & Experimental Allergy Apr 11, 2018
Reier-Nilsen T, et al. - Researchers investigated if clinical and/or immunological characteristics were related to reactivity threshold in children with anaphylaxis to peanut. Whether these characteristics were associated with severity of the allergic reaction during oral food challenge (OFC), was also determined. International standards were used to define anaphylaxis and grade the allergic reaction during OFC. Basophil activation, peanut skin prick test [SPT] and the ratio of peanut specific immunoglobulin E [s-IgE]/total IgE were shown to be related to reactivity threshold and lowest observed adverse events level (LOAEL), but not to allergy reaction severity in children with anaphylaxis to peanut.
