Kasparek MF, et al. - Researchers utilized SpineSage (a free of charge online calculator to predict medical complications in spine surgery) in patients undergoing spine surgery to evaluate whether or not the predicted risks would correlate with the actual complication rate in clinical practice. Both overall and major medical complications were predicted by the online risk calculator. Findings suggested that in preoperative planning and counseling of patients, an assistance could be provided by this tool.
