Predicting functional outcomes of posterior circulation acute ischemic stroke in first 36 h of stroke onset
Journal of Neurology Mar 01, 2018
Lin SF, et al. - This study was designed in order to inspect if the posterior circulation Alberta stroke program early computed tomography score (PC-ASPECTS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) facilitated the functional outcome prediction among Chinese patients with posterior circulation acute ischemic stroke. The receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve analysis revealed that the PC-ASPECTS exhibited greater reliability compared to baseline NIHSS for predicting functional outcomes of minor posterior circulation stroke. PC-ASPECTS and NIHSS assisted in speculating the functional outcomes. It was reported that PC-ASPECTS > 7 served as a beneficial discriminator for the attainment of favorable functional outcome prediction in the case of posterior circulation acute ischemic stroke.
