Predicting factors of angiographic aneurysm occlusion after treatment with the Woven EndoBridge device: A single-center experience with midterm follow-up
American Journal of Neuroradiology Oct 14, 2019
Cagnazzo F, Ahmed R, Zannoni R, et al. - Given the increased use of flow disruption with the Woven EndoBridge for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms, researchers sought factors that could be related with aneurysm occlusion and Woven EndoBridge shape change during a midterm follow-up. They included 86 patients/aneurysms with a minimum 12-month angiographic follow-up. The mean size of aneurysm was 5.5 mm (range, 3–11.5 mm). The MCA (43/86 = 50%), basilar tip (13/86 = 15.1%), and anterior communicating artery (12/86 = 14%) were the most common locations. Acute SAH was reported in 21 patients (21/86 = 24%). The analysis revealed 5 times lower likelihood of good occlusion in the presence of a wide ostium, whereas there was 6 times higher likelihood to be occluded in correlation with aneurysms with regular morphology. The aneurysm shape and ostium size strongly influenced the Woven EndoBridge shape modification, and the angiographic occlusion did not independently correlate with the modification.
