Predicting efficacy of plastic stents for posttransplantation biliary strictures
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Jan 20, 2018
Santo E, et al. - Predictors of response or failure of standard endoscopic treatment were identified, allowing earlier referral to alternative modalities when needed and avoiding unnecessary procedures. After the liver transplant, urgent repeated endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was a harbinger of the ultimate failure of plastic stent treatment for biliary strictures (BS). This finding could assist earlier triage of these patients toward alternative treatment like metal stents or surgery, thus sparing needless procedures and complications.
