Prediagnostic leukocyte telomere length and pancreatic cancer survival
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Oct 07, 2019
Hamada T, Yuan C, Bao Y, et al. - Given that leukocyte telomere length was correlated with the risk of subsequent pancreatic cancer, researchers conducted this prospective study to explore the connection between prediagnostic leukocyte telomere length and pancreatic cancer survival. The sample consisted of 423 candidates diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma between 1984 and 2008 within the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, Nurses’ Health Study, Physicians’ Health Study, and Women's Health Initiative. According to findings, shorter prediagnostic leukocyte telomere length was linked to decreased overall survival among patients with pancreatic cancer. No prognostic association or effect modification has been noted in relation to the studied SNPs for the prognostic association of prediagnostic leukocyte telomere length.
