Prediagnostic allostatic load as a predictor of poorly differentiated and larger sized breast cancers among black women in the women's circle of health follow-up study
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Dec 18, 2019
Xing CY, Doose M, Qin B, et al. - In a study of 409 Black women with nonmetastatic breast cancer who are recruited in the Women's Circle of Health Follow-Up Study in order to investigate the relation of allostatic load (AL), measured using appropriate biomarkers registered in medical records prior to breast cancer diagnosis, among unfavorable tumor clinicopathologic characteristics among Black women. AL measured 1 and 2 modestly agreed. Using AL measure 1 and AL measure 2, greater prediagnostic AL prognosticated higher grade (poorly differentiated vs well/moderately differentiated), and larger tumor size using AL measure 2 only. Hence, raised prediagnostic AL could add to more unfavorable breast cancer clinicopathology.
