Journal of Critical Care Nov 16, 2017
Hope AA, et al. - In a study population comprising adults with acute respiratory failure (ARF) requiring mechanical ventilation, researchers determined the independent impact of pre-hospital frailty (PHF) on hospital mortality and prolonged hospital length of stay (pLOS), while adjusting for other patient level factors. Findings suggested that patients with an increased risk of hospital mortality and pLOS may be detected via using PHF, identified by frailty diagnoses from before index hospitalization.
