Potential biomarkers for primary open-angle glaucoma identified by long noncoding RNA profiling in the aqueous humor
American Journal of Pathology Feb 22, 2019
Xie L, et al. - In the aqueous humor (AH) of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients, researchers analyzed disease-related extracellular long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) and mRNA profiles and identified potential biomarkers for diagnosis of POAG. Microarray analyses were used to access lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles in the AH from 10 POAG and 10 control patients. In POAG patients with AH, a total of 3627 lncRNAs and 2228 mRNAs were significantly up-regulated, and 1520 lncRNAs and 820 mRNAs were significantly down-regulated. Findings suggested that lncRNAs T267384, ENST00000607393 and T342877 could be potential biomarkers for diagnosis of POAG. In addition, ENST00000607393 could be a new therapeutic target for the calcification of trabecular meshwork associated with intraocular pressure misregulation and glaucoma.
