Postoperative hyperglycemia affects survival after gastrectomy for cancer: A single-center analysis using propensity score matching
Surgery Dec 10, 2019
Fiorillo C, Quero G, Laterza V, et al. - Researchers examined how postoperative hyperglycemia affects survival after curative gastrectomy for cancer. They reviewed data of all patients who underwent gastric surgery for cancer with curative intent and included 104 patients for this analysis. Outcomes revealed worse overall survival and worse disease-free survival among hyperglycemic patients vs normoglycemic patients. The multivariate analysis suggested the independent value of hyperglycemia as a risk factor for a worse overall and disease-free survival.
