Post-reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome headache
The Journal of Headache and Pain Mar 29, 2021
Ling YH, Wang YF, Lirng JF, et al. - In this prospective longitudinal follow-up study, researchers sought to examine the prevalence, features, risk factors, and the impact of post-reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) headache. Participants with RCVS were recruited prospectively, and baseline demographics were gathered, including psychological distress assessed by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. From 2017-2019, 134 patients with RCVS were enrolled, with 123 attending follow-up interviews. Post-RCVS headache is common, affecting nearly half (48.8%) of all patients and causing disability in one-tenth of them (11.7%). A higher level of anxiety and a history of migraines are risk factors. Half of the patients suffering from post-RCVS headache recover within a year.
