Journal of Clinical Neuroscience Sep 21, 2017
Piazza M, et al. - This cost-effectiveness study aimed to calculate rates of reoperation and performed a decision analysis to define the utility of bracing following pedicle screw fixation for thoracic and lumbar burst fractures. Bracing after operative stabilization of thoracolumbar fracture did not significantly improve stability, nor it increased wound complications. The data also suggested that post-operative bracing could not be a cost-effective measure.
