Post-diagnosis aspirin use and survival in veterans with head and neck cancer
Head & Neck Dec 18, 2018
Lumley CJ, et al. - Experts ascertained the impact of post-diagnosis aspirin use on survival in veterans with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. They conducted a retrospective cohort study of 584 veterans with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma treated at the Washington DC VA Medical Center between 1995 and 2015. Findings suggested an association of aspirin use following diagnosis and curative treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with improved overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS). Significantly better 3-year OS and DSS was demonstrated by the aspirin users compared to nonaspirin users.
