Post-concussion: Receded near point of convergence is not diagnostic of convergence insufficiency
American Journal of Ophthalmology Apr 23, 2019
Raghuram A, et al. - Authors explored the frequency of receded near point of convergence (NPC) in participants with chronic concussion-related symptoms, and among those with receded NPC to identify the frequency of convergence insufficiency and other oculomotor disorders in this retrospective cross-sectional study. Among 83 eligible candidates, 95% had oculomotor disorders; 41% had disorders of accommodation only, 21 had convergence insufficiency and accommodation deficits, and 6 had convergence insufficiency only. They noted that the clinical finding of a receded NPC was not identical with the diagnosis of convergence insufficiency when associated with various underlying oculomotor dysfunctions.
