Post‐dural puncture headache ‐ a single center analysis in pediatric patients with and without sma
Acta Pediatrica Feb 10, 2021
Schorling DC, Pechmann A, Eckenweiler M, et al. - Researchers conducted a retrospective, single‐centre analysis via chart review and questionnaire to collect epidemiologic data on post‐dural puncture headache (PDPH) after diagnostic or therapeutic lumbar puncture (LP) in children and adolescents with SMA as well as in a cohort of pediatric patients without SMA. Using the German procedure classification, patients were identified. A total of 218 LPs were identified in 95 patients. In the cohort of SMA patients, the prevalence of PDPH after therapeutic LPs was substantially lower than after LP in the general pediatric cohort. The data from this retrospective study showed an overall prevalence of PDPH in pediatric patients comparable to that documented in larger cohorts of adults.
