Positive STAT5 protein and locus amplification status predicts recurrence after radical prostatectomy to assist clinical precision management of prostate cancer

Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Sep 25, 2019

Haddad BR, Erickson A, Udhane V, et al. - In view of the necessity for new predictive markers for optimizing postoperative prostate cancer management, researchers examined if a positive status for nuclear STAT5 protein expression vs STAT5 locus amplification vs combined positive status for both is significant in predicting biochemical recurrence (BCR) after radical prostatectomy (RP) in 300 patients. Findings support the independent association of combined positive status for STAT5 with shorter disease-free survival in univariate analysis and its independent predictive value for BCR in multivariate analysis using the Cancer of the Prostate Risk Assessment Postsurgical nomogram variables in prostate cancer.
