Poor oral intake causes enteral nutrition dependency after concomitant chemoradiotherapy for pharyngeal cancers

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Apr 07, 2018

Ishii R, et al. - The precipitating factors (related to feeding condition, nutritional status, disease, and treatment) responsible for enteral nutrition (EN) dependency following concomitant chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) of head and neck cancers were identified and their statistical correlations were examined. Findings suggested a strong relationship of a long duration of no oral intake (NOI) to enteral nutrition (EN) dependency than nutritional factors. Although not significant, decreased body weight (BW) was the next predictor identified.
