Polyphenols as natural antioxidants in cosmetics applications

de Lima Cherubim DJ, et al. - In this investigation, researchers analyzed the antioxidant activity of phenolic compounds, which was mainly applied to dermatological therapy, and highlighted the mechanisms of action and the relationship between structure and activity. A literature search was performed in PubMed and Scielo for scientific researches, antioxidant studies, and systemic reviews in September 2017. According to findings, the use of phenolic extracts is a viable alternative for cosmetic applications, ensuring sustainability commitment. However, evaluating the toxicity risks of raw materials and finished products is of crucial importance.
