Point-of-care ultrasound leads to diagnostic shifts in patients with undifferentiated hypotension
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Sep 07, 2017
Shokoohi H, et al. – Researchers planned this study to evaluate the effect of an ultrasound hypotension protocol in identifying life–threatening diagnoses that were missed in the initial evaluation of patients with hypotension and shock. They revealed that a hypotension protocol was an optimal use of ultrasound that exemplifies Âright time, right placeÂ, and impacts decision–making at the bedside. Ultrasound was often the most readily available option to ensure that the most immediate life–threatening conditions were quickly identified and addressed in the order of their risk potential in cases with undifferentiated hypotension.
