Point of care ultrasound is associated with decreased ED length of stay for symptomatic early pregnancy
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Jun 12, 2019
Beals T, et al. - Via performing this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers examined how the use of pelvic point of care ultrasound (PPOCUS) vs CUS influence emergency department length of stay (LOS). Screening of 2980 initial articles was done; 32 articles were included for detailed review, 8 were evaluated for bias assessment, and the final meta-analysis included 6 articles. As per findings, among patients with symptomatic early pregnancy, use of PPOCUS was related to decreased LOS in patients with ultimate diagnoses of intrauterine pregnancy. As per this review, the generalizability of this finding to a variety of practice settings is suggested.
