Point-of-care ultrasound–guided percutaneous cannulation of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: Make it simple
The Journal of Emergency Medicine Jan 10, 2018
Ahn HJ, et al. - This study was planned with the aim to describe percutaneous cannulation guided by point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and compare it with fluoroscopy and landmark guidance. In terms of avoiding cannula misplacement, POCUS-guided cannulation and fluoroscopy-guided cannulation were comparable. During peripheral ECMO, researchers favored POCUS-guided cannulation over fluoroscopy- and landmark-guided cannulation.
