Poikilodermatous mycosis fungoides: Comparative study of clinical, histopathological and immunohistochemical features
Dermatology Oct 01, 2019
Vasconcelos BR, Valente NYS, Fanelli C, et al. - Researchers, for the first time, conducted this retrospective analysis to correlate prognostic, histopathological and molecular aspects of poikilodermatous mycosis fungoides (pMF; characterized by poikiloderma areas, typically involving the major flexural areas and trunk) with its clinical presentation. In this analysis of 14 cases of generalized pMF (GpMF), 22 of localized pMF (LpMF) and 17 of pMF admixed with other forms of MF (mix-pMF). According to the results, the presentation of dermatology differs between groups. Within the GpMF group, there was an elevated frequency of PLC-like lesions and mix-pMF hypopigmented lesions. The results of histology and immunohistochemistry were comparable to those previously reported. Because of the good prognosis of all pMF forms, aggressive treatments are not recommended. It is necessary to investigate the low positivity of T-cell clonality in the GpMF group.
