Pleth variability index can predict spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension in patients undergoing caesarean delivery
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Oct 19, 2017
Kuwata S, et al. - Researchers presumed that pleth variability index and perfusion index, via assessing maternal volume status, would enable the detection of caesarean delivery cases at high-risk of developing spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension. They tested the validity of this presumption in this study. Findings revealed that spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension was well-predicted by pleth variability index after spinal anaesthesia. Moreover, perfusion index change after spinal anaesthesia displayed the potential as a predictor of hypotension.
