Plates vs struts vs an extracortical rib fixation in flail chest patients: Two-center experience

Between January 2006 and January 2018, researchers conducted a retrospective study including a total of 65 surgical flail chests (25 plates,11 struts, and 29 wires fixations). A lower rate of postoperative morbidity and mortality were reported by using a plate and strut fixation. They defined Wires stabilization by a reduction of operative time.
