Platelet count and platelet-lymphocyte ratio as prognostic markers for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: A meta-analysis
Head & Neck Aug 17, 2018
Takenaka Y, et al. - In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), authors quantified the prognostic effect of platelet count and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR). They conducted a systematic search of electronic databases and identified articles reporting a correlation between platelet count or PLR and HNSCC prognosis. Findings suggested that in patients with HNSCC, there was a relationship between elevated platelet count and PLR with poor prognosis. They noted a correlation of a platelet count greater than the cutoff value with poor overall survival (OS) and any PLR greater than the cutoff value was associated with poor OS.
