Plasmacytoid acinar adenocarcinoma of the prostate: A newly described variant of prostate cancer
Human Pathology Nov 14, 2019
Al-Hussain T, et al. - Experts discussed a plasmacytoid variant of prostatic adenocarcinoma that had not been reported to the best of the knowledge. A 54-year-old male presented with recurrent attacks of acute urinary retention investigated. The person exhibited some primary response to antiandrogen therapy with a decrease in serum PSA levels after androgen deprivation therapy. Nevertheless, the patient died six months following diagnosis. Thus, it is crucial to identify this freshly defined variant and to differentiate it from plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma. Moreover, identification of the freshly defined plasmacytoid variant of adenocarcinoma of the prostate would result in determination and reporting of more cases and a superior understanding of its clinicopathologic characterstics.
