Placental pathology in neonatal stroke: A retrospective case-control study
The Journal of Pediatrics Feb 08, 2018
Bernson-Leung ME, et al. - This retrospective case-control study was performed to evaluate the association of placental abnormalities with neonatal stroke. When compared with controls, the placental abnormality was more common in children with neonatal stroke. All placental findings represented subacute-to-chronic intrauterine stressors. Placental thrombotic processes were correlated with both arterial and venous stroke. Findings provided evidence for specific mechanisms that could predispose to acute perinatal stroke.
