Pituitary macroadenoma and visual impairment: Postoperative outcome prediction with contrast-enhanced FIESTA
American Journal of Neuroradiology Dec 02, 2017
Hisanaga S, et al. - Experts aspired to evaluate whether the degree of kink in the optic nerve at the optic canal orifice on contrast-enhanced FIESTA associated with the postoperative improvement of visual impairment in patients with the pituitary macroadenoma. They found the degree of the optic nerve kinking angle to be an independent predictor of postoperative improvement, showing that irreversible damage to the optic nerve could be correlated with its kinking at the optic canal orifice.
