Demark-Wahnefried W, et al. - This randomized controlled trial was designed to investigate whether a home-based vegetable gardening intervention was feasible. In addition, the authors aimed to explore whether it improved diet and other health-related outcomes among older cancer survivors. They concluded that among older cancer survivors, the home vegetable gardening intervention was feasible and suggested improvements in vegetable and fruit consumption and reassurance of worth. Moreover, the data suggested attenuated increases in waist circumference. In order to improve health, health behaviors, and well-being of older cancer survivors, a continued study of vegetable gardening interventions was warranted.
