The Journal of Pediatrics Nov 22, 2019
van Summeren JJGT, Holtman GA, Kollen BJ, et al. - In this pragmatic randomized controlled trial with 8 months follow-up, in which primary care physicians enrolled children diagnosed with functional constipation (n = 234), and pediatricians enrolled newly referred children with a diagnosis of functional constipation (n = 11), experts ascertained the efficiency of physiotherapy plus conventional treatment vs conventional treatment alone for the treatment of functional constipation in children age 4-17 years in primary care. No evidence to suggest physiotherapy for all children with functional constipation in primary care was discovered.
