Physical activity and risk of benign proliferative epithelial disorders of the breast, in the Women’s Health Initiative
International Journal of Epidemiology Jun 21, 2021
Peila R, Chlebowski RT, Ballinger TJ, et al. - To further explore the link of recreational physical activity with benign proliferative epithelial disorders (BPED) of the breast, conditions related to elevated risk of breast cancer, researchers undertook this investigation utilizing data from an ancillary analysis of benign breast disease performed among the 68,132 postmenopausal females (aged 50–79 at recruitment) taking part in the Women's Health Initiative randomized clinical trials. Annual or biennial mammogram screening was performed in all clinical trial participants. Findings revealed that among postmenopausal women, there was a lower BPED risk in relation to recreational physical activity after menopause.
