Physical activity and exercise capacity in severe asthma: Key clinical associations
The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice Nov 19, 2017
Cordova-Rivera L, et al. - This study was undertaken to explore the prognostic associations of physical activity and sedentary time in severe asthmatics, compared with age-matched control participants, presuming less activity and more sedentary behavior as well as an association of more activity and less sedentary time with better clinical outcomes and markers of systemic and airway inflammation in people with severe asthma. Findings demonstrated that people with severe asthma performed less moderate and vigorous activity than did controls. Data also highlighted an association of higher levels of activity and lower levels of sedentary time with better exercise capacity, asthma control, and lower levels of systemic inflammation.
