Physical activity after percutaneous coronary intervention for chronic total occlusion and its association with health status
Journal of the American Heart Association Apr 03, 2019
Peri-Okonny PA, et al. - Researchers inquired 1000 patients enrolled in the Outcomes, Patient Health Status, and Efficiency in Chronic Total Occlusion (OPEN CTO) registry regarding exercise participation following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic total occlusion (CTO) [CTO PCI]. They also assessed the association of exercise with health status following CTO PCI. Findings revealed significantly increased participation in regular exercise 12 months after CTO PCI. The likeliness to exercise regularly at 12 months was greater among patients who had greater health status benefit following PCI. Overall, they concluded that for engaging coronary artery disease patients with limiting symptoms in regular exercise as well as to support better long-term outcomes, CTO PCI could be useful.
